Gramercy Visual Art Department
Goal/mission: To equip students with a diverse array of artistic skills so they can express themselves through the visual arts and bring glory to God.
Our students compete in various art competitions including:
- NC State Fair Art Show
- ACSI Festival of Arts show
- The Arts Council of Carteret County's Art from the Heart student show
Our students serve the community and school through yearly fundraisers:
- Bark for Art
- Fall Pumpkin Painting
Art students are privileged to participate in various workshops with professional artists:
- Local artist, Irene Bailey, opens her studio for water color and oil painting workshops
- Theresa Brown, from Wake Forest, NC, used a live horse to teach students how to draw
- Stephen Filarsky, from Wake Forest, NC, demonstrated plein air painting
Fieldtrips include:
- ACSI Fine Arts Festival
- NC Museum of Art
Gramercy Music Department
We believe music is a gift from our creative God, designed for His Glory and pleasure. At Gramercy, students have the opportunity to experience spiritual, cultural, and aesthetic enrichment and satisfaction through participation in the music program.
Opportunities for engagement in the music program:
Kindergarten-4th grade
- Students engage in weekly music classes
- Students explore elements of music and enjoy various musical activities
- Students perform for their families and friends
Grades 4-6
- Glee club is offered for those who love to sing
- Practices are weekly
- Performances are throughout the year
Grades 5-12
- Beginning in 5th grade, a student may join the beginners’ band
- This elective meets daily and allows students the opportunity to learn to play a band instrument
- There is also a middle school band as well as a high school band
- All bands have multiple yearly performances
Band experiences include:
- Participation in the NCBA District Band
- Competition at the ACSI Music Festival
- Workshops and performances with the USMC 2nd MAW Band
- TRI-M, a national music honor society is also available for those students who excel both musically and academically
