Ready or Not – It’s Back to School!

The 2017-2018 school year is just around the corner and Gramercy Christian School is excited to continue our partnership with parents in raising disciples for Christ through Bible-based education! Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us! Ready or not, the school year begins on August 28th with a half-day for all students (see attached school calendar). The school supply list has been emailed and the Spirit Store is up and running and available for you to purchase GCS uniform and athletic gear. The Spirit Store is closing Sunday, August 13th so don’t wait!

Gramercy is welcoming aboard a few new faculty and staff members as well and we are grateful for God’s faithful provision and perfect timing in the filling of these positions. Our new Kindergarten teacher is Andrea Purvis who will be joined by Tammy Gurganus as the Kindergarten permanent T.A. Although we hated to see Mrs. Cornett and Mrs. Pruitt retire, we are looking forward to launching a new Kindergarten dream team that will carry us into the future.

The Lower School is also welcoming Jennifer Collars, a former Gramercy student, as the new 4th Grade teacher and we are thrilled to have her on board!

The Upper School will have some new additions to our teaching staff as well. Thomas Kester will be our new middle school Social Studies teacher and Michelle Harrell is joining our Upper School math department. Together, they bring years of experience and will be a welcome addition to the Gramercy family.

Hugh Whaley is our new Band Director and he comes to us with over 30 years of experience and a wealth of knowledge and practical experience teaching Band.

Our former Lunch Coordinator, Tish North, has moved to the front office, bringing the same level of organization and spirit she brought to the lunchroom. The office has never looked better! Taking her place in the lunchroom is Andi Holecheck and our new Librarian is Jenne Routszong, who just happens to be Kay Cornett’s daughter. The heritage continues!

Although we have enjoyed some moments of sunshine and sand this summer, please know we have also been praying fervently and working diligently to prepare for the coming school year. We are grateful for God’s faithfulness, which never ceases to humble and astound us. We have missed your children!

Enjoy your last few days of summer, but keep in mind Open House will be Thursday, August 24th. We will send an email with details in the next few days and we encourage parents and students alike to attend.

Thank you again for the privilege of serving your family.
