2017 - The 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation

2017 is an important year for the Protestant Church in that it marks the 500th anniversary of the year (October 31, 1517) Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses (Disputation on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences) to the door of the Wittenberg Castle Church, thus launching the Protestant Reformation, a religious, political, intellectual and cultural revolution that divided Catholic Europe.  The Reformation redefined the beliefs and structures that had dominated Europe for decades by questioning the Catholic Church's authority to define Christian practice.  Significantly, reformers like Martin Luther and John Calvin argued for the inherent power and indisputable authority of the Scriptures and worked to put Bibles into the hands of common men and women, not just clergy.

As a Christian school in 2017 whose mission is to educate and disciple young people based on a biblical worldview, we owe a debt of gratitude to courageous followers of Christ, such as Martin Luther, who have gone before and forged a path for us to follow.  Gramercy Christian School is a ministry of Faith Evangelical Bible Church (FEBC) and in recognition of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, FEBC is hosting a three-part documentary on the Reformation called "This Changed Everything."  Parents and students alike are invited to come during the month of October and learn about this revolutionary historical event.
