Today is Not that Day!

At 3:30 am this morning, I awoke with this horrible thought:  it is the middle of July!  If you're a mom or dad of school-aged children, then you already know where I'm going with this, and it's probably perfectly clear to you why I awoke in a semi-panic.  Summer is half over.  The summer that literally just began five minutes ago is already half over.  Perhaps this thought was brewing in the back of my mind because of my brief trip into Hobby Lobby yesterday where I saw, that's right, Thanksgiving decorations on display.  How is that even possible?  Honestly, putting up Thanksgiving stuff in July makes me feel anything but thankful.  In fact, it makes me grouchy. I'm still trying to remember to buy new goggles and a beach chair.   As a teacher and school administrator at Gramercy, we are already in the thick of preparing for the coming year.  We are sending out emails, school supply lists, and sports calendars.  We are soliciting volunteers and rem ...

This One's for You, Gramercy Mom!

It's Saturday morning, August 26th, 7:46 am and I am sitting on my screen porch with a cat, drinking coffee, listening the the sounds of morning. I am clinging to the remnants of a summer I feel slipping away and feel slightly nauseated by the fact that in two days 7:46 am will mean I am already late to everything.  I have one child asleep on the sofa, one asleep in a bean bag chair, one asleep at the foot of my bed and I think I'm missing one and I am wondering how in the world I am going to get everyone back on a 9-6 sleeping schedule by Monday.  It's been three months of glorious anarchy and though I suppose I am ready for some semblance of a schedule, I feel the pressure closing in.  For the next nine months, the closest thing to a vacation I will get is a break from packing four lunches due to a half-day of school.  My children are getting older and there are four of them, so I have long since surrendered the hope that this will be the year when I finally get it all right.  There ...

Ready or Not - It's Back to School!

The 2017-2018 school year is just around the corner and Gramercy Christian School is excited to continue our partnership with parents in raising disciples for Christ through Bible-based education!  Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us!   Ready or not, the school year begins on August 28th with a half-day for all students (see attached school calendar).  The school supply list has been emailed and the Spirit Store is up and running and available for you to purchase GCS uniform and athletic gear.  The Spirit Store is closing Sunday, August 13th so don't wait!  Gramercy is welcoming aboard a few new faculty and staff members as well and we are grateful for God's faithful provision and perfect timing in the filling of these positions.  Our new Kindergarten teacher is Andrea Purvis who will be joined by Tammy Gurganus as the Kindergarten permanent T.A. Although we hated to see Mrs. Cornett and Mrs. Pruitt retire, we are looking forward to launching a new Kindergarten d ...
